Phenytoin loading doses

Must evaluate volume of medication administered to determine total propylene glycol exposure. High-dose lorazepam (i.e., >8-10 mg/h), phenytoin loading doses, and phenobarbital are the most likely offenders. [Pg.86]

Phenytoin. Administer a loading dose of 15-20 mg/kg IV slowly at a rate not to exceed 50 mg/min (or 1 mg/kg/min in children). It may be diluted in 50-150 mL of normal saline with use of an in-line filter. Phenytoin has been administered via the intraosseous route in children. Do not administer by the intramuscular route. [Pg.489]
