Phenylsilicon trichloride

In the early part of my paper, I referred to the work of Voronkov j[3] regarding the physiological effects observed by him for a series of organosilicon compounds. A particularly intriguing observation was the high mammalian toxicity of the compound phenylsilatrane. This compound can easily be obtained from phenylsilicon trichloride and triethanolamine ... [Pg.142]

Phenyltriethylsiiicane is produced when phenylsilicon trichloride and zinc ethyl, in equal quantities, are heated in a sealed tube for one hour at 150° C. The gas pressure in the tube is then released and the heating continued at 160° C. and finally at 165° C. After treating the product with water, and then hydrochloric acid, an oil is formed which is taken up in ether, washed, dried, and distilled. The product, B.pt. 230° C., is phenyltriethylsiiicane, a colourless, faintly fuming liquid, soluble in ether and insoluble in water. It burns with a sooty fiame and has a density of 0 9042 at 0° C. Diphenyldiethylsilicane, B.pt. 305° to 315° C., is formed as a by-product ... [Pg.263]
