Phenyl sulfane

Zur Reduktion von Bis-[2-nitro-phenyl]-sulfan (S. 695), 4-Nitro-1 -phenylthioazo-ben-zol (s.S. 700) und zur Hersteliung von3-Amino-benzolsulfonsaure aus 3-Nitro-benzolsul-fonsaure im FlieGbett-2 oder Wirbelsehicht-Zellen3 s.Lit. 

Diazidodiphenylsulfane.or Bis(4>Azido phenyl)-sulfane, NgCgH. SOj.CjH Ng, mw 300.30, N 28.03%, crysts (from acet), mp 156—57°(explosion point). It was prepd by diazotizing bis(4 aminophenyl)-sulfone in aq sulfuric acid and treating the diazonium soln with a cold soln of hydrazine hydrate Na acetate (Refs 1 2)... 

Mit Sauerstoff in methanolischer Losung bei 20° in Gegenwart von l,2-Bis-[ 1-me-thyl-3-oxo-3-phenyl-propylidenamino]-ethan-cobalt(II)-Salz als Katalysa-tor werden Alkyl-phenyl-sulfane mit aciden a-H-Atomen unter sehr milden Bedin-gungen oxidativ zu Alkanalen gespalten2 ... 

Dibenzyl- und Methyl-phenyl-sulfan-(4-mcthyl-benzolsulfonylimine) werden durch Dimethylsulfoxid bei mehrstiindigem Erhitzen auf 180° u.a. in Benzaldehyd (93-99%) bzw. Formaldehyd (33-35%) 37 gespalten. 

In einigen Fallen gelingt die Hydrolyse auch mit Natriumcarbonat oder Natronlauge4. Das Alkyl-phenyl-sulfan kann auch aus dem terminalen Alkylhalogenid durch Umsetzung mit Natriumthiophenolat erhalten werden4. 

Octyl-phenyl-sulfan Eine Mischungvon 1 g 1-Octen, 150 mg Azo-bisisobutyronitril und 3 ml Thiophenol werden unter Stickstoff 4 Stdn. auf 90° erwarmt. Nach dem Abkiihlcn wird mit Ether verdiinnt, mit 1 N Natronlauge und Wassergewaschen und iiber Natriumsulfatgetrocknet. Die erhaltene Mischung wird in 30 ml Ether bei 20° 6 Stdn. mit Lithiumalanat behandelt, um das als Nebenprodukt entstehende Diphenyldisulfan zu reduzieren Ausbeute 1,91 g (97°/0).

An oven-dried amber vial was charged with PhaPAuCl (25 mg, 0.050 mmol) and AgBp4 (9.7 mg, 0.050 mmol) under an atmosphere of N2. The mixture was stirred in anhydrous CH2CI2 (1.0 mL) for several minutes. To this was added benzenethiol (0.10 mL, 1.0 mmol), then 3-methylpenta-1,3-diene (cis/trans mixture, 0.14 mL, 1.2 mmol), and the mixture was stirred overnight. The mix was then filtered through a Celite 545 pad and the solvent removed via rotavap. The crude material was then purified by column chromatography on silica gel (hexane), and the solvent was removed to yield (3-methylpent-3-en-2-yl)(phenyl)sulfane as an off-white oil (0.17 g, 90%). ...
