Phenoxazone derivatives

The total synthesis of actinomycin G3, a phenoxazone derivative with peptide side chains as well as the total synthesis of atisine and other diterpene alkaloids have been published. 

Whilst there are no reports in the literature of crystalline products having been obtained from the interactions of adrenochrome with o-phenylenedi-amine. Auterhoff and Hamacher have prepared a phenazine derivative (103) by the interaction of o-phenylenediamine with rubreserine (66) (a compound structurally similar to the aminochromes) [193]. In the same paper, the authors describe the reaction of rubreserine with ammonia in alcohol at reflux temperatures. A complex mixture of products including the phenoxazone derivative, eserine blue was obtained [193]. 

Polarographic,35 chromatographic, and electrophoretic 36 investigations on phenoxazine derivatives have been reported for naturally occurring phenoxazones (actinomycins). 

Other miscellaneous systems [2c] include phenoxazones, quinolinones, phtalo-cyanines, benzopyranones, rhodanines, Rose Bengal peroxybenzoate, crystal violet/ benzofuranone derivatives, dimethyl aminostyryl benzothiazolinium iodides, etc. 

Phenoxazine and phenothiazine dyes are basic dyes which possess a delocalized quinone iminium chromophore analogous to phenoxazone. They are derived from the classical dyes Meldola Blue 40 and Lauth s Violet 41 ...
