In another recent study on the synthesis of saniconductor polymers by a combination of CRP methods, Lang et al. [161] reported the use of H NMR and SEC to monitor the kinetics of NMP of trimethylsilyl propargyl acrylate and investigating side reactions leading to increase in polydis-persity. Subsequent click reactions with an azide functionalized perylene bisimide derivative overcome these limitations, as proven by H NMR and FTIR analysis. [Pg.217]

Abstract The concepts at the basis of transient absorption measurements were illustrated with particular reference to nanosecond kinetic spectrophotometry and femtosecond pump and probe methods. The main features of the typical experimental setups for both techniques were illustrated as regards optical parts, geometrical layout of components and light detection systems. Examples of application of transient absorption spectroscopy were illustrated for the elucidation of photoinduced processes in supramolecular systems like a fullerenepyrrolidine-oligophenyleneethynylene hybrid derivative, a drug-protein complex and a tri-chromophoric system consisting of two porphyrins and one perylene bisimide. [Pg.185]

Two approaches were available for the preparation of quaterrylene bisimides, taking advantage of either intramolecular cyclization or intermolecular dimerization reactions. These two methods were developed independently in Mullen s and Langhals groups. As shown in Scheme 7, Mullen s intramolecular approach started from bromination of perylene monoimide 74, which was subjected to Yamamoto coupling reaction to produce precursor 76, and the quaterrylene bisimide 77 was... [Pg.220]
