Permeability of fill mass Drainage capacity

Water from natural precipitation, overtopping and other sources may hamper the intended use of the reclamation area if it does not readily drain away. Natural drainage of a reclaimed area includes the infiltration of the water into the fill in combination with the natural surface runoff An important property that influences the infiltration capacity is the permeability of the fill mass. [Pg.190]

If the natural drainage capacity is not sufficient to cope with the water supply by precipitation, overtopping, etc., an artificial drainage system may have to be designed. [Pg.190]
