A pseudo-octahedral MFs unit is a feature of all of the structures of crystalline metal pentafluorides examined so far. The MFs units are usualiy linked by a sharing of cis-related F atoms and the RhFs unit seen in [RhFs]4 is similar to units seen in the other pentafluoride structures. Since the averaged nonbridging M-F interatomic distances in (RhFs)4 are 1.808 (8) A whereas the averaged bridging M-F distances are 1.999 (4) A, we can safely assume that the former bonds are appreciably stronger than the latter. [Pg.335]
