Turner, S. 1997. "The Vision and Reality of Pell Grants Unforeseen Consequences for Students and Institutions." Paper presented at the 25th Anniversary Pell Grant Conference, November 13-14, Washington DC. [Pg.106]

Students began earning SIE funds in February, 1988. By the end of the 1989-90 school year, 10,417,900 in entitlement to scholarships had been earned by 35,861 students. Students and their parents receive a cumulative quarterly statement of earnings, but the money is paid directly to the post-secondary institution selected by the student. SIE funds can be used only at Pell Grant- or Ohio Instructional Grant-approved two- and four-year colleges, technical, and vocational schools. [Pg.140]

Community college transfer students in Florida receive more Pell Grant awards (federal grants based on economic need) than their four year degree earning counterparts regardless of ethnicity (see figure 7.4). [Pg.150]
