Peabody scrubber

Wet impingement baffle (Peabody) scrubbers height/diameter 1.3 1 to 4.6 1 liquid loading 1 to 2 L/m s of horizontal cross-sectional area mass loading liquid/gas = 0.2 to 0.7. 

Figure 3 shows the outline of the process employed at the lijima Zinc Refinery. Two Dorco-type roasters with a set of waste heat boilers and cyclones are operating. The waste gases fix>m the boilers go through a hot fan to a Peabody scrubber to cool and wash the gases. The eooled gases fipm the two roasters are mixed and de-misted in two stages of mist precipitators. 

Many devices are used for wet gas scrubbing such as spray towers, packed towers, plate scrubbers such as the Peabody scrubber or Venturi scrubber. Scrubbing liquor is circulated through the scrubbing system and becomes acidic due to the absorption of SO3 contained in sinter plant gas. Often the...
