Part-time work distance

The technical managers shall have their residence at a distance from the working place which allows them to assume their responsibilities fully. If the size and nature of the company allow their activity on a part-time basis, it is advisable to specify the responsibilities in writing and to document the on-site working time on request of the authorities.

Volatility of the attractant molecule is an important consideration. The effectiveness of some lures over great distances implies an appreciable degree of volatility, a property that is, in part, tied to the size of the molecule. At first we believed that a compound with 11 or 12 carbon atoms was about the optimum size and this idea seemed to work with some of the fruit fly lures. A compound of this size is volatile enough to be detected but not so volatile that it would last only a short time. If, for example, it is desired to enlarge a drawing to exactly twice its sUe, the blades simuld be divided lengthwise into three parts and the hole made at one of the divisions so that, when the instrument is assembled, the distance from the pivoted joint to the one end will be exactly twice tbe distance from the joint to the other end. Sitnilarly, to enlarge three times, the blades must be divided into four parts and the pivot hole placed at a point one quarter ihe length of the blades from one end. Other divisions can be worked out in the same way. For small work, a good length make tbe blades is in., as indicated by the inch scale placed beneath the lines upon which tbe divisions have been marked.
