Parametric Resynthesis

In this chapter we used a variety of our techniques to build a complete system to analyze and synthesize the sounds of walking. The system was tested on hand crafted, real-world gravel sounds with good results. The system has been applied to a variety of sound effects recordings of walking. One obvious next step would be to connect this system to a motion capture system, automatically lining up the audio footfall sounds with the graphical/ sensor data.

Chapter 9 presents several models that can be used to parametrize audio signals, and possibly modify them. In that context, time or pitch scale modifications are implemented by adequately modifying the model parameters before the resynthesis stage.
