Palladium compounds from stannanes

The above procedure was used for the preparation of all compounds except 104p, which was obtained from 104r by palladium-catalyzed coupling with tributylvinyl-stannane followed by palladium-catalyzed cyclopropanation of the resulting vinyl intermediate with diazomethane (Scheme 32) (99BMC3187). 

Chlorophenyl)-4-phenyl-l,2,5-thiadiazole 128 was prepared from 3-trifluoromethylsulfonyloxy-4-phenyl-1,2,5-thiadiazole 127 by palladium-catalyzed cross-coupling reaction with the tributyl(4-chlorophenyl)stannane (Equation 20) <1996H(43)2435>. The addition of lithium chloride improves the yield. The 3-chloro- and 3-bromo-l,2,5-thiadiazole derivatives were also reactive, but only the bromo compound gave the product in comparable yield (see Section 5.09.7.6). 

To make C-glycosides, organopalladium(II) reagents produced from the corresponding organomercurials or -stannanes are used or iodoaromatics can be employed with catalytic proportions of palladium salts. Compound 19, made by treatment of the adduct 18 with triphenylphosphine, gives 20 (R = H) in near quantitative yield on reaction with aqueous sodium bicarbonate, but when it is simply heated briefly in toluene a different elimination occurs to give the ace-toxy compound 20 (R = OAc, Scheme 7) [30]. 

Addition of tributylstannyl-lithium to crotonaldehyde and protection of the resulting alcohol with chloromethyl methyl ether gives the stannane (192), which reacts with both alkyl and aryl aldehydes RCHO to form specifically the t/rr o-hydroxy-enol ethers (193). These latter compounds have been used to prepare tra/i5-4,5-disubstituted butyrolactones by hydrolysis and subsequent oxidation. Palladium-catalysed carbonylation of RX in the presence of organotin species constitutes a useful synthesis of unsymmetrical ketones, and in the example reported this year RX is an arenediazonium salt. The reaction, which is basically an aromatic acylation, proceeds in good to excellent yield. Another Pd-catalysed reaction of aromatics, this time aryl bromides, is their reaction with acetonyltributyltin (194), prepared from methoxytributyltin and isopropenyl acetate, to give the arylacetones (195). ...
