Paint, comparison with other coatings

The addition of an alcohol before, during or after the neutralization results in an aqueous coating composition [181] that can form films that are not only superior in the resistance to corrosion and to water, but also have favorable physical properties such as hardness, adhesion, impact strength, and flexibility. They show excellent draining properties in electrodeposition paint and exhibit a remarkably improved performance in comparison with paints based on other LMWPBs such as cis-1,4-polybutadiene as the starting material [182]. [Pg.200]

The other significant aspect of adhesive drag is its relation to the surface contamination present on the surface. For example, an alkyd paint film was painted on a glass surface, cross-linked, and then peeled off. For comparison, the same experiment was carried out on a glass surface coated with dimethyldichloro silane, as shown in Fig. 8.10. [Pg.162]

For the first time, the delamination of the monolayer coating can be evaluated quantitatively and directly compared with the delamination of industrial paints. Such a comparison is shown in Figure 25, and it is quite obvious that the delamination rate is determined not by the thickness of the coating but by the bonds that prevail at the interface. Using the scanning Kelvin probe in the future, the stability of other... [Pg.507]
