P-Cymen

With dilute sulphuric acid citral forms p-cymene. Citral can be condensed with propa-none to form a ketone, pseudoionone, C13H20O, which is technically important, as it is readily convertible into a and -ionone. [Pg.101]

The most important menthadiene, an optically active monocyclic terpene found in chenopo-dium oil. Used in the manufacture of p-cymene. [Pg.253]

By oxidation with permanganate it forms pinonic acid, C,oH,<503, a monobasic acid derived from cyclobutane. With strong sulphuric acid it forms a mixture of limonene, dipentene, terpinolene, terpinene, camphene and p-cymene. Hydrogen chloride reacts with turpentine oil to give CioHijCl, bomyl chloride, artificial camphor . [Pg.315]

The following liquids may be used (boiling points are given in parentheses) — chlorobenzene (132-3°) bromobenzene (155°) p cymene (176°) o-dichloro-benzene (180°) aniline (184°) methyl benzoate (200°) teti-alin (207°) ethyl benzoate (212°) 1 2 4-trichlorobenzene (213°) iaopropyl benzoate (218°) methyl salicylate (223°) n-propyl benzoate (231°) diethyleneglycol (244°) n-butyl benzoate (250°) diphenyl (255°) diphenyl ether (259°) dimethyl phth ate (282°) diethyl phthalate (296°) diphenylamine (302°) benzophenone (305)° benzyl benzoate (316°). [Pg.61]

Nitro-m-xylene 2-Nitro-p-xylene 2-Nitro-p-cymene (4) Nitromesitylene... [Pg.530]

Aminopyridine (I) is converted by diazotisation in the presence of bromine and concentrated hydrobromic acid Into 2 broraopyridine (II) the latter upon treatment with copper powder in the presence of p-cymene yields 2 2 -dipyridyl (III). [Pg.992]

A. 2,2-Dimethyl-4-pentenal. In a SOO-mL, one-necked, round-bottomed flask which contains a magnetic stirring bar are placed 108 g (1.5 mol) of 1 sobutyraldehyde (Note 1), 58 g (1.0 mol) of ally alcohol (Note 1), 230 ml of p-cymene (Note 1), and 0.4 g (2 mnol) of p-toluenesulfonic acid nonohydrate... [Pg.125]

Isobutyraldehyde, allyl alcohol, p-cymene, and p-toluenesulfonic acid monohydrate were purchased from Aldrich Chemical Company, Inc., and used as received. [Pg.128]

Saidician s - t-fennel oil has been found to contain p-cymene. [Pg.326]
