Many kinds of Cu/ZnO-based catalysts were prepared according to the composition of which have been reported to be efficient in MS reaction [2-5] and examined in the oxygenates synthesis as they were mixed with y-alumina. Smith et al. (ref. 4) have modeled the C2+ oxygenate synthesis over the MoS2 based catalysts taking into account the mechanistic features that the linear growth I now proceeds by CO insertion and is more efficient than -branching. The main kinetic feature is that the Cj—>C2 step is faster than Cn— Cn+i (n 2) steps particularly in the presence of cobalt in the catalyst. This kinetic pattern results in product distribution that can be maximized at ethanol, opposite to that obtained in the synthesis over the copper based catalysts. [Pg.123]
