Oxiranes desymmetrization

Enantiopure organic compounds, which can easily be obtained from natural sources, e.g., D- and L-tartaric acid, D-mannitol, L-lactic acid, and L-amino acids, have served as precursors for chiral oxiranes through multistep syntheses.
