Overview of ground improvement techniques

Various techniques are available for improving the behaviour of the fill mass and/ or the subsoil. Eaeh method has its own advantages and disadvantages with respect to performance, time and cost. Selection of the most appropriate technique must be based on specific site conditions and the needs of the project. Specialist Contractors may have to be consulted to evaluate various options. A well-managed ground improvement operation, appropriate to the site, will enhance the prospects of in-time and safe project delivery (Das, 2009). [Pg.146]
