We will now formulate the mechanism of the light emission taking into account all the facts presented in this chapter. It will be exemplified using the case of polysaccharides. 

Notice that peroxyl radicals, which are potentially formed on carbons 1,2,3,4 and 5, are tertiary peroxyl radicals, which in their recombination give oxygen and two oxyl radicals or dialkyl peroxide, respectively, via a radiationless route. 

It thus appears that a measurement of the light emission from the oxidized polymers opens a new possibility in understanding of the oxidation and
