Organozinc compounds exchange

Similar arguments apply to the coordinating-ligand exchange processes. Kinetics describing these processes for organozinc compounds are seldom found in the literature. 

Equilibria exchanging alkyl or other organic groups between organozinc compounds have been classified as (A) intermolecular exchange, (B) metaUotropic exchange (or shift) and (C) exchange with other metals. 

In view of the synthetic significance of organozinc compounds,260 this tellurium-metal exchange was studied in more detail. It is used to prepare arylzinc reagents from diaryl tellurides or ditellurides, which are captured by allyl halides (Scheme 102).261... 

Zinc. The salts used for the Zn reactions are the halides (chlorides, bromides and iodides) both alkyl and aryl compounds are used. Owing to the reactivity of organozinc compounds, air and moisture must be excluded from the reaction. Use of ether or dioxane, on evaporation of the solvent, leads to solvates RZnX-D (X = halide, D = Et20 or dioxane). The exchange between Et2Zn and Znl2 occurs slowly in ether at RT.
