Organometallic compounds behavioral effects

Studies on the organo-transition metal chemistry of OFCOT and other fluorocarbons indicate that organometallic molecules with perfluorinated carbon skeletons possess structural and chemical properties equally as rich as their hydrocarbon analogues. Their structures and chemistry have helped our understanding of the effects of fluorine substitution on the physical and chemical behavior of organometallic compounds. [Pg.261]

The effects of metal-containing POSS on the combustion behavior of polypropylene have been investigated.46 Metal-POSS was prepared from incompletely condensed structures by reaction with organometallic compounds. The dimeric and oligomeric of Al and Zn-isobutyl silsesquiox-ane (POSS) have been evaluated as potential flame retardants for polypropylene, and the results were compared with PP/octaisobutyl POSS. The cone calorimeter data (Table 8.2) revealed that... [Pg.194]

The degree of polarity of the metal-carbon bond has, however, a marked effect, not only on the physical, but also on the chemical behavior of an organometallic compound. Thus the reactivity is found to be greater the more polar is the metal-carbon bond. This depends mainly on the difference in electronegativity between the central atom and carbon the smaller the Pauling electronegativity of a metal the greater is the reactivity of its carbon derivatives. [Pg.749]

A related interesting phenomenon is the electron reservoir behavior of coordination compounds [89]. For instance, compounds [(A)(C R )M X]+ with acceptor-bound organometallic reaction centers can accommodate one first added electron in the acceptor ligand A before a second added electron combines with the stored one to effect a chemically productive two-electron process at the metal (Eq. 8) [90]. [Pg.1660]
