Organogold Complexes with Those of Other Metals

COMPARISONS OF ORGANOGOLD COMPLEXES WITH THOSE OF OTHER METALS [Pg.101]

A number of comparative studies have been made of organogold compounds and related complexes of neighboring metals, notably platinum and mercury as well as the other group IB elements. These comparisons have included such aspects of their chemistry as thermal stability and reactivity, bonding modes, and spectroscopic data. [Pg.101]

An early study concerned the ease of isolation of fluorophenyl complexes (34) of gold and platinum(II). The complexes c7.s-[PtR2L2] (R = p-FC6H4 orm-FC6H4 L = PR 3, AsR 3, or SbR 3) were readily prepared, whereas [Au(C6H4F-m)(PPh3)] was less stable and the analogous p-fluorophenyl complex was not isolable. The last compound had been successfully synthesized previously, however (55). [Pg.101]

Interactions of [AuMe2(C104)] and [PtMe3(C104)] with water were studied by I70-NMR spectroscopy (275), and exchange of H20 molecules was found to be more rapid for the [AuMe2(OH2)2]+ cation than for [Pg.101]

The trans-influence series Me2S Br Cl en OH H20 was obtained (276) from the vibrational spectra of complexes of the type [AuMe2X2] +, and this order paralleled that found for platinum(II). In contrast to the findings for platinum(II), however, the role of 7r-bonding was suggested to be minimal. [Pg.102]
