Organogermanium Mercaptides, Organoselenides and Organotellurides

The organogermanium mercaptides and organoselenides listed in Tables 6l and 63 are prepared by methods from the following scheme. 

R = organic group, may be different in one molecule, r be functionally substituted, X halogen, n 2,3 y cat. require MeCeH4SQ3H as catalyst. 

By rxn. of MesGeBr with MeSH and Py in hexane, in 73% yield (227)  

t By rxn. of MesGeBr with EtSNa in Et20, in 9 % yield (0 3)
