The fungitoxic action of compounds containing three organic (R) groups depends primarily on the nature of R. In the aliphatic series, toxicity is at the maximum with the tripropyl and tributyl derivatives, while in the case of aromatic compounds triphenyl tin compounds are most effective. Substitution in the phenyl radical usually reduces the toxic effect.
