Modelling and Strangening Nucleic Acids by Polynucleotide Strand-Analogues [Pg.213]

Base and sugar variants of nucleosides and nucleotides have been dealt with in the past in an abundance, nearly incapable for reviews, monographs or even reference journals (26,121-123). While these variants of a first and second generation of analogues still continue attracting the attention of people interested in nucleic acid chemistry and its applica- [Pg.213]

To deal only with those structures, modelled from a greater distance, there opened for synthetical approaches ways of polycondensation, polyaddition free-radical, photochemical, or -ray induced polymerizations or polymeranalogous reactions, possibilities that have been met in the meantime by numerous synthetic efforts, reviewed already by different authors (26,59,97,128-130,132,133). [Pg.213]

As a compromise between the screening postulations of rapid and uncomplicated access to high molecular systems (due to the selections of a size criterion for interaction possibilities of biopolymers within bioregulation hierarchies (134)) by a route independent from the natural polycondensation way (due to a greater suitability for the alternatives of matrix polymerizations) and a certain degree of stereo-electronic order of our synthetics (due to the desire for reproducibility and fit of our systems in their possible interactions with biopolymers) we started [Pg.213]
