We have prepared multi-component photorefractive polymers for optical data storage applications (8). This photorefractivity is a combination of two functionalities electro-optic effect and photoconductivity. We have achieved holographic diffraction efficiencies up to >30% in our composites. [Pg.534]

The problem of designing new polymer-based composite materials containing metal nanoparticles (MNPs) is of current interest, particularly in the fabrication of magnetooptic data storages, picosecond optical switches, directional connectors, and so on. The nonlinear optical properties of these composites stem from the dependence of their refractive index on incident light intensity. This effect is associated with MNPs, which exhibit a high nonlinear susceptibility of the third order when exposed to ultrashort (picosecond or femtosecond) laser pulses [1]. [Pg.241]

CNTs are a prospective novel material for multi-component nano-composite fibers, as they have been widely applied as composites components because of their excellent optical, mechanical, and electrical properties. Cobalt ferrite (CoFe204) nanoparticles are an important magnetic material used in high-density data storage, ferrofluids, and electronic devices. ... [Pg.132]
