Open morphology

B3 and B4 are made of two kinds of morphologies a dense morphology similar to the one seen in B1 and an open morphology with bigger porosity (Fig. 3). [Pg.456]

N2 adsorption-desorption measurements show that BET specific areas are all about the same for the 4 powders (300m g ). However, total porosity is increasing going from B1 to B4 and the isotherms show more and more macroporosity from B2 to B4. This suggests a higher quantity of open morphology. [Pg.456]

We can finally conclude that Bl is of colloidal size and has a lot of water on the surfece. Bl could then behave as model particles weakly linked to each others. Although the other boehmite powders have about the same quantity of water on the surfaces, the open morphology identified on B2, B3, and B4 suggests particular contacts between elementary crystals. [Pg.457]
