Oligomers plant species producing

Oligomers of this type constitute the largest group of oligomeric hydrolyzable tannins and distribute in a relatively wide range of plant families. They include approximately 75 dimers, 15 trimers and 3 tetramers. Plant species producing oligomers of this type are shown in Table 1. [Pg.403]

The plant family Dipterocarpaceae is comprised of three subfamilies, Dipterocarpoideae, Monotoideae, and Pakaraimoideae. Species of the largest subfamily, Dipterocarpoideae, are of most interest because of their economic use in producing timber and oleoresins. Plants of the Dipterocarpoideae are typified as sources of oligostilbenoids (resveratrol oligomers) which have shown various biological activities such as antibacterial, antifungal, anti-HIV antiviral, and cytotoxic effects.
