Offshore Oil and Gas Rigs Accident Analysis

Offshore oil and gas industry accident-related data have been collected and entered into the WOAD since 1970. It is considered one of the most complete and reliable databases of accidents, incidents, and failures in the offshore oil and gas industry. Therefore, this section presents offshore oil and gas rigs accident analysis of data obtained from WOAD. 

As per Reference 3, WOAD contains a total of 6183 records concerning near misses, incidents, accidents, etc. Geographical distribution of these records is as follows [3]

Chapter 9 presents various important aspects of oil and gas industry accident data and accident data analysis. Some of the topics covered in this chapter are oil and gas industry accident databases, onshore and offshore oil and gas industry accident data analysis, and offshore oil and gas rigs accident analysis. Chapter 10 is devoted to oil and gas industry equipment reliability and covers topics such as oil and gas pipeline fault tree analysis, corrosion-related failures, optical connector failures, and fatigue damage initiation assessment in oil and gas steel pipes.
