Octahedra electronic spectra

The enzyme contains six identical subunits (M = 96600) arranged in the form of an octahedron. Each subunit contains two tightly bound nickel ions (% nickel = 0.12). After the electronic spectrum of the enzyme has been corrected for light scattering the d-d bands associated with nickel(II) at 407, 747 and 1060 nm are consistent with nickel in an octahedral environment. In the presence of acetohydroxamic acid the... [Pg.112]

The almost certainly regular octahedron proposed for [M(PF3)6], (M = Cr, Mo, and W) and [VH(PF3)6], based on spectroscopic data, has not yet been substantiated by X-ray or electron diffraction methods however, the well-resolved 51V and 93Nb NMR spectra of the anions [M (PF3)6] (M = V, Nb), and the 95Mo NMR spectrum of [Mo(PF3)6] indicate that the metal atoms are certainly in a high symmetrical environment. [Pg.53]
