O-Aminophenylarsonic acid

O, NC-C(NH, >=C-NQ, (Ref 3) diff sol in ale, w and dil inorg acids sol in alkalies aq AcONa. Was first prepd by Benda(Ref 2) by nitrating p-aminophenylarsonic acid. DeLange (Ref 3) prepd it by treating 4-methoxy-3,5 dirutrophenylarsonic acid with ale ammonia, followed by acidification with HC1... 

The yields obtained on dominating the following amines further illustrate the wide utilitybf hypophosphorous acid 2,4-diethyl-6-bromoaniliae (70%),89 3-nitro-4-aminophenylarsonic acid (45%),90 3-amino-6-bromo-benzoic acid (75%),13 3,3 -dimethylbenzidine (76-82%),80-81 4-amino-7-chlorohydrindone-1 (85%),91 5-methyl-8-aminoquinoline (72%) 84 o-(/3-phenylethyl)-aniline (XXII) (47%).86 In the last case, when ethanol is used dibenzyl is not obtained instead the products are 9,10-dihydro-phenanthrene (co. 50%) and o-(j8-phenylethyl)-phenol (23%).66... 

Arsono Groups. The three isomeric aminophenylarsonic acids can be converted into the corresponding phenylenediarsonic adds by means of the Bart reaction. The o-isomer gives a 44% yield of the diarsonic add,13 and a 14% yield of p-phenylenediarsonic acid is recorded.47. It is to be noted that the presence of the o-nitro group in 2-nitro-4-arsonoaniline increases the yield from 14% to 70-85%.34 48...

In the following instances, failures have been recorded for sodium stannite 3-nitro-4-aminotoluene, p-aminophenylarsonic add, trana-o-aminocinnamic acid. - ... 

Although the arsonation of ethers of phenol has not been investigated, the monp- and di-methylethers of resorcinol can be arsonated to yield 2-methoxy-4-hydroxyphenylarsonic acid (31%) and 2,4-dimethox henyl-arsonic acid (44%), respectively. From o-aminoanisole there was formed 3-methoxy-4-aminophenylarsonic acid in a low yield.
