Nucleate Boiling from Wall into Bulk Liquid

This chapter now describes how there are three modes of heat transfer within the fluid mechanisms which lead to evaporation of the liquid. These are  [Pg.43]

Nucleate boiling from wall to bulk liquid, at high heat fluxes. [Pg.43]

Convective heat transfer from wall to bulk liquid with no boiling, at the low heat fluxes characteristic of normal LNG storage. [Pg.43]

Conductive and micro-convective heat transfer in the liquid/vapour interfacial region leading to surface evaporation as the only normal boil-off mechanism in LNG. [Pg.43]

The chapter then continues with a discussion on how, when surface evaporation is dominant, a superheated state of the liquid is a necessary occurrence. [Pg.43]
