Novel Pre-Combustion Power Production Membrane Reactors

Gallucci and M. van Sint Annaland Eindhoven University of Technology, Chemical Process Intensification, Chemical Engineering and Chemistry, Eindhoven, The Netherlands [Pg.53]

The easiest way to introduce CCS to mitigate anthropogenic emissions is to focus on point sources with concentrated CO2 emissions. In a report by IPCC (Ref [1] Chapter 2), the concentrated sources for CO2 emissions (those producing more than 1 Mt C02/year) have been inventorized (see Table 3.1). From this table, it is evident that the main effort should be dedicated to capture CO2 from fossil fuel-driven power plants. [Pg.53]

Three main technological paths have been proposed for CCS from fossil fuel-fired power stations, namely, the post-combustion capture, the pre-combustion decarbonization and [Pg.53]

In this chapter, the pre-combustion route is discussed with particular attention to novel reactors, namely the MR concepts, that integrate reforming reactions and separation in a single unit, thus resulting in both hydrogen production for power generation and CO2 capture. [Pg.55]
