Nitride and Oxynitride Compounds

Aluminium nitride (AIN) has a wurtzite-type stmcture composed of AIN4 units in a hexagonal lattice. Its Al spectrum consists of a single resonance at 114 ppm (Dupree et al. [Pg.316]

Analysis of the Al satellite peaks in the spectra indicates a value for Xq and t) of 1.913 MHz and ca. 0 respectively, with an unusual positive temperature coefficient of Xq which may be related to the wurtzite stmcture (Bastow et al. 1998). AIN is commonly prepared by nitridation of Al metal, and may contain oxide impurities which can be detected by Al NMR with extremely high sensitivity (down to about 0.05 wt%) (Haase et al. [Pg.316]

Surface reactions of AIN with moisture form aluminium hydroxides of which the Al(Vl) can readily be detected by Al NMR, and in ultrafine AIN powders can constitute the major feature of the Al spectmm (Hayashi et al. 1987). [Pg.316]

AIO5 groups in the precursor results from the replacement of alkoxy groups by hydrazide species, and once formed, AIO5 appears to facilitate the incorporation of nitrogen during heat treatment (Kim et al. 2000). [Pg.317]
