Nitrendipine Ciclosporin

Gingival hyperplasia, similar to that seen with phenytoin and ciclosporin, is a rare but well-recognized adverse effect of nifedipine (88). It has also been reported in patients taking felodipine (89,90), nitrendipine (SEDA-16, 200), and verapamil (91), suggesting that this adverse effect is a class effect. Only one case of gingival hyperplasia related to calcium channel blockers was reported to the Norwegian Adverse Drug Reaction Committee up to 1991, despite their widespread use (92). However,... [Pg.601]

Nitrendipine had a small but significant nephroprotective effect independent of its antihypertensive action in patients treated for 2 years with ciclosporin and no adverse effect on renal allografts (1). Nitrendipine did not affect blood concentrations of ciclosporin. Thus, nitrendipine, in contrast to most other calcium channel blockers, does not affect ciclosporin blood concentrations and can be safely added in transplant recipients. [Pg.2538]

Diltiazem, nicardipine and verapamil markedly raise serum ciclosporin levels but also appear to possess kidney protective effects. A single case describes elevated ciclosporin levels caused by nisoldipine. Nifedipine normally appears not to interact, but rises and falls in ciclosporin levels have been seen in a few patients. Fe-lodipine, isradipine, lacidipine and nitrendipine normally appear not to raise serum ciclosporin levels. Amlodipine has modestly increased ciclosporin levels in some studies, but not in others, and it may also have kidney-protective properties. [Pg.1027]

Nitrendipine 20 mg daily for 3 weeks had no signifieant efifeet on the ciclosporin hlood levels in 16 kidney transplant patients. ... [Pg.1027]
