Dissoive about 20 mg of a soiid or 1 drop of a iiquid unknown in 1-2 mL of water, and add 0.5 mL of the ceric ammonium nitrate reagent shake the mixture and note the coior. If the unknown is insoiubie in water, dissolve it in 1 mL of 1.4-dioxane. and proceed as before.
