Caution Ail procedures in this chapter should be carried out in a well-ventilated hood, and disposable vinyl or latex gloves and safety goggles should be worn. 

For setting-up the reactor system, follow Protocol 1, steps 1-3. 

Place p-bromotoluene (1.71 g, 10 mmol) and zinc bromide (1.13 g, 5 mmol) in 5 1 toluene tetrahydrofuran (24 mL) in a flask with an ultrasonic probe,3 a magnetic stirrer, a side-arm, and a tubing adapter connected to a mercury bubbler.
