Neutrals reduced size

Temperature Pressure Eirtenl of system Activity of HjSiOj Mechanism Silica phase present pH Salts Particle size Experimental dependence (Arrhenius equation) Very little effect Rate directly proportional to A and inversely proportional to Af Rate proportional to (1 — Q/K) Rate controlled by breaking of strong Si-O bonds Determines K and therefore S No indication of any effect on reaction mechanism near neutrality Reduces the activity of water and thus silica solubility Very small pauicles have higher solubilities than macroscopic grains... [Pg.159]

In polyphase circuits. Regulations 524-02-01 and 02 warn against the use of reduced size neutrals where there are unbalanced loads and/or additive harmonic currents, and for this reason Regulation 524-02-03 forbids their use in discharge lighting circuits where the harmonic content of the phase currents is greater than 10% of the fundamental current. [Pg.146]

The major use of alkan olamines in agricultural products is as a neutralizer for acidic herbicides. They also contribute increased water solubiUty, reduced volatility, and more uniform solutions. Various ethan olamines are reported in formulations to improve potato tuber size (219) and enhance the resistance to salt of some crops (220). [Pg.11]

Rosin is commonly modified with maleic or fumaric acid to improve efficiency. Since the 1970s, dispersions of unsaponifted rosin have become more popular as a result of their improved sizing efficiency, lower alum requirements, and reduced pH sensitivity vs saponified rosins. Cationic dispersed rosin size, which can be effective at near-neutral and neutral papermaking conditions, is also available (63—65). Commercially available rosin sizes include Pexol, Neuphor, and Hi-pHase (Hercules Inc.), Plasmine and NeuRos (Plasmine), Stafor (Westvaco), Novaplus, and Novasize (Georgia Pacific), and NeuRos and Roscol (Akzo Nobel). [Pg.310]

The first area covers low volumetric flow rates, and entrance pressures below Pcr. This sector of two-phase flow in the molding machine is characterized by a complex non-linear dependence of reduced pressure on reduced volumetric flow rate. The structure of foam plastics obtained in this way was called shell structure by the authors in [20, 21] — the extrudate contains huge shell bubbles which are comparable to its section. As CBA concentration increases, or medium volumetric flow rate is increased at low CBA concentration, small bubbles materialize in the melt around the shell bubbles, and the structure becomes shell-bubble . Increase of the volumetric flow rate and the concentration of flowing agent neutralizes the difference in bubble size their lateral dimensions become smaller than their longitudinal ones. [Pg.117]

Tris-hydroxymethyl-aminomethane (THAM) has been evaluated in ischemic stroke to reduce mass effect and ICP. It acts as a bulfer, neutralizing acidosis on a local level, including in the brain parenchyma. It has been studied in animal models of stroke, showing an effect in reducing the size of and swelling from cerebral infarction. To date, however, THAM has not been studied in a controlled fashion in humans with ischemic stroke. [Pg.175]
