In the absorption spectra of the CdS nanocrystals suspension with and without peptides for the cases of CGGGIKVAV and CGGGLDV, respectively, there is a strong absorption peak at about 440 nm. The band gap of bulk CdS at 10 K is 2.58 eV (480.6 nm) and the band gap increases to 2.8 eV (439.9 nm) for a CdS SQD as a result of the quantum confinement. By comparing the absorption edge with these scaling results, the diameter of the SQDs in the CdS suspension was estimated to be about 3 nm. [Pg.513]

The presence of negatively charged sulfonic groups in CNP obtained by hydrolysis with sulfuric acid significantly affect their properties, such as the thermal stability of the nanoparticles, as well as phase stability, rheological behavior, and birefringence of nanocrystal suspensions. [Pg.255]

Drug B has an aqueous solubility in the range of 3-10 (jtg/niL and provided inadequate exposures during preclinical studies. MBP was developed with an enteric polymer and compared against a nanocrystal suspension formulation in a rat PK study at 1000 mg/kg. A higher than fourfold increase in absorption was observed with MBP as compared to the crystalline form (Fig. 12.15). [Pg.389]

Bouyer et al. reported the details of a morphological study of an HA nanocrystals suspension prepared using a wet chemical precipitation method at different synthesis temperatures, and with various reactant addition rates [28]. These authors showed that the shape, size and specific surface area of the HA nanoparticles were highly sensitive to the reaction temperature and reactant addition rate. Moreover, the reactant addition rate also determined the purity of the synthesized HA, and had a major influence on the pH-value obtained on completion of the synthesis. The reaction temperature also determined whether the crystals were... [Pg.413]

Addition of a base to deprotonate the organic linker was used as a strategy to regulate the early stage of crystallization. Li et al. prepared highly uniform suspensions of ZIF-7 nanocrystal suspensions by dissolving zinc nitrate and benzimidazolate (bim) into a polyethylene imine (PEI)-dimethylformamide (DMF)... [Pg.4]
