Nanocomposites Based on Polycarbonate

The presence of hydrogen bonds between the carbonyl groups in poly (vinylphenol) (PVPh) and the hydroxyl groups in poly(vinyl acetate) (PVAc) in a PVPh/PVAc blend has been demonstrated, as depicted below [43]  [Pg.21]

Note in Fig. lie that the band for the hydrogen bonding (at l,750cm ) appears as a shoulder and is not well resolved. This is understandable, in that the number of hydroxyl groups in the PC/Cloisite 30B nanocomposite is very small since the level of Cloisite 30B in the nanocomposite is only 4.3 wt% and further Cloisite 30B contains 32 wt% MT2EtOH, which in turn has small amounts [Pg.21]

Yoon et al. [44] investigated the effect of the chemical structures residing at the surface of organoclays on the morphology and properties of nanocomposites based on PC. In the preparation of these nanocomposites using a twin-screw [Pg.22]

There are so many thermoplastic polymers that it is not possible to present the rheological behavior of organoclay nanocomposites based on each of them. Here, we will consider rheological behavior of organoclay nanocomposites based on polycarbonate (PC), which can be regarded as being representative of the majority organoclay... [Pg.575]
