Multiple occupancy

Before proceeding further it should be noted that there is a great difference in severity of the restrictions imposed by the earlier assumptions (a)-(d) and the present ones, (e) and (f). The earlier ones mainly restrict the size of the enclosed molecules to such a range that they neither distort the lattice, nor give rise to multiple occupancies or quantum effects. 

In a multiple occupancy building a separate means of egress is advisable for transportation of animals to and from the building. Aside from the obvious odor containment, this egress provides protection to the animals. 

In his paper Domb presents a detailed analysis of the statistical properties of self-avoiding walks on lattices.1 These walks serve as models for linear polymer chains with hard-core intramolecular interactions associated with the exclusion of multiple occupancies of the lattice sites by the chain so-called chains with excluded volume. 

In this case the configuration integral is calculated by assuming that at high densities every cell is occupied by only one molecule because of strong repulsion forces, while for low densities a correction is introduced for multiple occupation of the cell ... 

For multiple occupations with equivalent electrons, that is, for products of occupations, one or more of which contains equivalent electrons, we proceed for each occupation as described here, and then couple the various resulting states together in all possible ways to obtain the final states arising from the product of occupations.

In a sequence of three papers, Papadimitriou et al. [47-49] performed Monte Carlo molecular simulations in the Grand Canonical Ensemble to study the multiple occupancy of argon and hydrogen in the various cavities of structures II and H. 

The present state of development of the cell model for pure liquids is summarized in an excellent review article by J. de Boer. The main defect of the cell model is that the calculated entropy is much too small. Some recent improvements overcome this difficulty, at least partially, by taking account of holes multiple occupation of cells.J... 

The behaviour of 5 as a function of temperature can be derived from equation (7.53) by the same approach as in OCR model. Although functionally OCR and vacancy models are identical, there are important differences. Firstly, the assumptions such as multiple occupancy around NBO site, etc. made in the OCR model are absent in the vacancy model. Secondly, vacancy model avoids being specific to a moderately modified network glass. In the 2VB1 structure, many atoms were attributed partial or multiple occupancies for which an experimental error bar of 10 % had been stated [42]. Given this and the triclinic symmetry of the crystal, the simplest possibly realistic description... 

At high mean occupancy (e.g. Smean =3), the probability of multiple occupancy of micelle is large. This lead to localization of the reactants and hence the production of extremely high local concentrations - a favorable condition for bimolecular reactions. Thus localization effects have been observed for many bimolecular photochemical reactions with enhancements up to 1000 times that in homogeneous solutions.
