Multidetection gel permeation chromatography

Gel permeation chromatography (GPC), particularly in its multidetection version, is now a mature and well-accepted technique for MW characterization. The capability of GPC to determine changes throughout the MWD, in addition to the different MW averages, opens new possibilities for polymer degradation studies. The scission probability as a function of position along the molecular chain, for instance, could be inferred from the MWD of degraded polymer [12).
