Separation processes, multicomponent

Smith and Brinkley developed a method for determining the distribution of components in multicomponent separation processes. Their method is based on the solution of the finite-difference equations that can be written for multistage separation processes, and can be used for extraction and absorption processes, as well as distillation. Only the equations for distillation will be given here. The derivation of the equations is given by Smith and Brinkley (1960) and Smith (1963). For any component i (suffix i omitted in the equation for clarity)... [Pg.522]

Several different approaches have been taken to develop programs that are efficient in the use of computer time, and suitable for the full range of multicomponent separation processes that are used in the process industries. A design group will use those methods that are best suited to the processes that it normally handles. [Pg.542]

ChemSep is a suite of programs for performing multicomponent separation process calculations on PCs. It was created specifically for use by students in university courses on stagewise separation processes, but it is also used by professionals in industry. It includes ChemProp, a program that allows estimation of physical properties such as densities, viscosities, heat capacities and conductivities, and surface ten-... [Pg.389]

The residue curve mapping (ROM) technique has traditionally been considered a powerful tool for flowsheet development and preliminary design of conventional multicomponent separation processes. It represents a good approximation of actual equilibrium... [Pg.44]

These assumptions are no prerequisites of the Wavelet-Galerkin method. Their only purpose is to furnish a simple illustrative dynamic model of a multicomponent separation process. [Pg.246]
