Mucius Scaevola, Quintus

MUCIUS SCAEVOLA, QUINTUS (d. C.88). Known as the Augur to distinguish him from his cousin the Pontifex. The son-in-law of Laelius and a junior participant in On the Commonwealth, he was consul in 117, a distinguished jurist, and father-in-law of Lucius Licinius Crassus he appears as an elder statesman in Book i of On the Orator. [Pg.239]

MUCIUS SCAEVOLA, QUINTUS (d. 82). Known as the Pontifex to distinguish him from his cousin the Augur. The son of Publius Mucius Scaevola and like him (and his uncle and his grandfather) pontifex maximus. Consul in 95 and the author of a large treatise on civil law, he instructed Cicero in law in the mid 80s until his murder in 82 by the younger Marius. [Pg.239]

MUCIUS SCAEVOLA, QUINTUS (first century). The grandson of Scaevola Augur, he was a friend of Cicero and his brother aside from his verse in praise of Cicero s Marius, he is known to have written risque poetry. [Pg.239]

Mucius SCAEVOLA, PUBLIUS (d. (. iis). Consul in 133 and supporter of Tiberius Gracchus. He succeeded his brother Publius Licinius Crassus Mucianus as pontifex maximus in 133 he was a renowned jurist and is said to have compiled from pontifical records the text known as the Great Annals (Annales Maxmi). His son was Quintus Scaevola the Pontifex. [Pg.239]
