Pontifex Maximus

The Annates Maximi was an atmual record kept by the pontifex maximus. including eclipses and other portents. 39 On the deification of Romulus see below 2.17 and 6.24. 

CAECILIUS METELLUS, LUCIUS (d. 22i). Consul in 251 and 247 he defeated the Carthaginians at Panormus in the First Punic War. He was pontifex maximus from 247 until his death. 

CORNELIUS SCIPIO NASicA SERAPio, PUBLIUS (second century). Grandson of the elder Africanus and thus a cousin of the Gracchi and (by his adoption) of Scipio Aemilianus he was consul in 138 and pontifex maximus. As leader of the senate, he led the mob that killed Tiberius Sempronius Gracchus when Gracchus stood for reelection as tribune in 133. He was sent on an embassy to Asia by the senate immediately thereafter to get him out of Rome he died... 

CORUNCANIUS, TIBERIUS (d. C.243). Consul in 280 at some point thereafter he became the first plebeian pontifex maximus. 

LICINIUS CRASSUS MuciANUS, PUBLIUS (d. 130). Consul in 131, pontifex maximus, a member of Tiberius Gracchus agrarian com-... 

Mucius SCAEVOLA, PUBLIUS (d. (. iis). Consul in 133 and supporter of Tiberius Gracchus. He succeeded his brother Publius Licinius Crassus Mucianus as pontifex maximus in 133 he was a renowned jurist and is said to have compiled from pontifical records the text known as the Great Annals (Annales Maxmi). His son was Quintus Scaevola the Pontifex. 

MUCIUS SCAEVOLA, QUINTUS (d. 82). Known as the Pontifex to distinguish him from his cousin the Augur. The son of Publius Mucius Scaevola and like him (and his uncle and his grandfather) pontifex maximus. Consul in 95 and the author of a large treatise on civil law, he instructed Cicero in law in the mid 80s until his murder in 82 by the younger Marius.
