Mouse-ear stage

Susceptible cultivars, such as Gala, Cox s Orange Pippin, Boskoop, Braeburn and Rubinette, must be treated at the mouse-ear stage. 

Spraying with sulphur from the mouse-ear/greenbud stage onwards has a good suppressive effect on the apple rust mite. Spraying with sulphur is less effective once infestation is very severe, however.

Remarks Optimum time for use is the mouse-ear/redbud stage It is absolutely essential to spray each row twice (e.g. 2 x 15 1 if the amount used is 30 l/ha) Fine spraying gives better coverage Rapeseed oil is much less effective than paraffin oil but is easily degradable...
