Motor cooling

Fire or explosion hazards require special motor enclosures. Hazards include combustible gases and vapors such as gasoline dust such as coal, flour, or metals that can explode when suspended in air and fibers such as textile lint. The land of motor enclosure used depends on the type of hazard, the type and size of motor, and the probability of a hazardous condition occurring. Some available enclosures are explosionproof motors, which can withstand an internal explosion force-ventilated motors cooled with air from a safe location and totallv enclosed motors cooled bv air-to-water heat exchangers and pressurized with safe air, instrument air, or inert gas,... [Pg.2488]

In addition, the small motor fan attempts to blow air down over the motor and is no match for the much bigger cooling tower fan drawing air up and around the motor. The small fan in this case is useless- even counterproductive. This application needs a TEAO motor. Cooling tower manufacturers sometimes purchase special motors tailored for their application... special grease, seals, slingers, weep hole locations, epoxy coatings, etc.. Such features make an OEM replacement more desirable than an off the shelf replacement. [Pg.81]

Further losses are caused by frictional losses in the bearings, flow losses through the air in the air gap, and through the ventilator to the motor cooling system. [Pg.316]

Behr is an example of an automobile supplier with high network capability. The company s focus is vehicle air conditioning and motor cooling. Its customers include all the large European car manufacturers. In order to offer its customers a comprehensive service range, Behr is involved in nu-... [Pg.2879]

There is always a possibility of corrosion of electrical bus bars, cable connection or motor cooling fans due to corrosive wet dust. [Pg.86]

The annual energy saving is calculated as 44 kEUR for the friction hoist by selecting the motor cooling fan with VSD, energy efficient design motor and main transformer. The total energy efficient improvements payback time is calculated as 3.3 years, see Table 12. [Pg.178]

The major reasons for ASD shutdown are transients, interruptions, sags (under-voltages), swells (over-voltages), waveform distortions, voltage fluctuations, and frequency variations [11-13]. These problems can cause ADS symptoms such as premature trips or shuts down, resets and restarts, frequent repairs and replacements, erratic control of process parameters, unexplained fuse blowing and/or component failures, and frequent motor overheating trips and/or continuous operation of motor cooling systems. [Pg.326]

Motor cooled by air circulated by a separate motor-driven blower. Normally used on large low-speed motors where rotor fans cannot move sufficient air to properly cool the motor. [Pg.624]
