In the last few years, nanotubes of several inorganic layered materials such MoS2, NbS2 and BN have been prepared and characterized.5 The area of inorganic nanotubes has been reviewed in one of the articles and nanotubes of BC4N have been described in another. 

Nanotubes of MoS2, WS2 and a few other layered materials are single-crystalline in the sense that the layers run through the entire structure. Some of the chalcogenide nanotubes are, however, polycrystalline, the nanotubular form being produced by an aggregation of nanoparticles, just as in some of the metal oxide nanotubes. 

Similarly to the case of direct-oxidation anode materials, sulfur-tolerant anode materials based on sulfides [6, 7] or double-perovskite oxides have special requirements for their processing into SOFC layers.
