Other categories and cities, the RMSE, MAPE and MASE generated by the proposed model are usually the minimum value or very close to the minimum value. It is clear that the proposed model exhibits much better monthly forecasting performance than other models whichever accuracy measure is used. 

To provide a flexible, robust and effective methodology for fashion sales forecasting, this chapter examines the sales forecasting problem based on the forecasting process in real-world fashion retailing, which forecasts the total sales amount of each fashion item category or each city (all categories) on a medium-term basis (annually, quarterly and monthly). 

To evaluate the performanee of the proposed forecasting model, extensive experiments were conducted in terms of real fashion sales data, which forecast the total sales amounts of various item categories and cities on a monthly, quarterly or annual basis. 

Most forecasting is done at a high level of detail that focuses on a product category or family, a market or region, and a period of weeks or months. Accuracy and efficiency in supply chain fulfillment require a much lower level of detail, tracked online and kept in synchronization with actual customer withdrawals. 

FlexMan, an electronics contract manufacturer, uses its Topeka, Kansas, facility to produce two product categories routers and switches. Consultation with customers has indicated a demand forecast for each category over the next 12 months (in thousands of units) to be as shown in Table 8-11.
