In 1989, Mitsui Mining and Smelting Co., Ltd. developed and introduced the first operational nondestructive automatic peach sweetness grading machine. Peaches graded by this system were differentiated as "sweetness guaranteed". The company has now developed the Multi-Purpose Sensor (MPS) for grading apples and Japanese pears, in addition to peaches, with a single unit. [Pg.195]

Some examples of commercial products are MPG and ICG by Mitsubishi Chemical Co., GDA by Mitsui Mining Co., OMAC by Osaka Gas Chemical Co., 818 by BTR Energy Materials Co., NG-7 by Kansai Thermochemical Co., and DAG by Sodiff.656 Hard carbon coated cokes and soft carbon coated hard carbons are other carbons with core-shell structure reported in the literature.610-657... [Pg.303]

The two-stage process was licensed by Mitsui Mining Company (MMC) in Japan in 1982, and by 1993 a modified form of the process was installed in four commercial plants in Japan and Germany [58]. The granular carbon or activated coke used in this process has a surface area of initially 150 to 250 mVg, which is much lower than that of commercial activated carbons. It is produced from a bituminous coal and a pitch binder. Low surface area carbons have been found to be the most effective in this process they are cheaper than high surface area activated carbons, they retain their SO2 adsorption capacity more efficiently on repeated cycling, and their relatively low porosity contributes to strength and abrasion resistance. [Pg.29]

The fibers are manufactured in bundles of several 100 filaments and exhibit tensile strengths of 1.4 to 2.3 GPa and elasticity moduli of 320 to 380 GPa. Disadvantages of the fibers formerly manufactured by DuPont (types FP and PRD-166, are no longer manufactured) are their high density (3.6 to 4.2 Mg/m ) and the brittleness of the ca. 20 pm in diameter fibers (see Table 5.2-16). Fibers from Mitsui Mining (type ALMAX) with a diameter of 10 pm are commercially available at a price of 1900 DM/kg. They are mainly utilized in the reinforcing of aluminum and magnesium. [Pg.389]
