By some miracle, the cookie that he had not tasted since childhood had the ability to conjure his early days in a town he calls Combray, the old house where his aunt used to live, the water-lilies of the Vivonne, the garden flowers, the country roads, the church, the good folk of the village and their little dwellings. Proust wrote that visions took form and solidity as they emerged—city and gardens—from his cup of tea. 

Scientists interested in the origins of life seem to divide neatly into two classes. The first, usually but not always molecular biologists, believe that RNA must have been the first replicating molecule and that chemists are exaggerating the difficulties of nucleotide synthesis. The second group of scientists are much more pessimistic. They believe that the de novo appearance of oligonucleotides on the primitive earth would have been a near miracle. (The authors subscribe to this latter view). Time will tell which is correct.3...

I think the Iranian soldier will fight if he is well led, and if he has come to have a confidence in his officers, especially his senior officers, which he does not now have and which they do not now deserve. Motivated by these arguments, we decided to use MIRACLE, the MPE/ROE mid-IR camera (Cameron et al. 1992), to target NGC 1068 in an attempt to help unravel the apparently complex interplay between the various onitting regions. A detailed interpretation of these data can be found in Cameron et al. (1993). Here we focus on implications for the structure of the veil surrounding the nucleus.
